Mário and Neta

Mário and Neta, Mar~Marionetas' mascots, are well known to our audiences. They walk around schools, go to the capital, travel by train and stroll the city streets.

The constant attempt to find new ways of bringing Mar~Marionetas closer to its audiences gave rise to the idea of splitting the word puppet and creating two characters — Mário and Neta — who, through various means and ways, would increase the effectiveness of the Festival's promotion and affirm it as an event aimed at all ages.

It has been seen that the mascots establish a relationship of great empathy and complicity with both schoolchildren and the general public. It can be considered that the mascots, who are well known by the public, are an excellent way of promoting Mar~Marionetas and attracting new audiences.

Mário and Neta, the festival’s mascots, are visiting schools across the municipality!

Mar~Marionetas—the Espinho International Puppet Festival—is coming soon!

The characters Mário and Neta, who appear at the Festival every year, have decided to visit the elementary and preschool children in the municipality to announce the arrival of Mar~Marionetas and share some of the excitement with them, inviting them to bring their families so they can all enjoy together something that belongs to everyone.

These mascots were created, sculpted, and brought to life by a team of professionals embodying the spirit of innocence, family, affection, love… something that does us all good.

Mário and Neta wander through the Festival several times. They are present at important moments, mingle with the audience, help build this symbolic family, and are figures of the imagination…
